#OWSCyCon2019 Author Spotlight
As part of the build-up to OWSCyCon2019, I want to introduce you to some of the amazing volunteers and authors taking part in the event. If it wasn’t for the volunteers, there could be no CyCon, and I’m grateful to every single one of them for giving up their time to make this happen. But by the same token, without the authors taking part in the event, we wouldn’t be able to bring you the amazing events that we have planned. So without further delay…
Meet Kasper Beaumont
Kasper J. Beaumont was born and raised in Australia and lives a quiet life with the family in a seaside town. Combining a love of fantasy and a penchant for travel in the Hunters of Reloria trilogy, Kasper started to write on the urging of friends and family and enjoys watching readers become immersed in the magical world of Reloria. Kasper is a pen name for a rather shy author who is happy to remain unnamed.
The Hunters of Reloria trilogy is about the magical world of Reloria where halflings and fairies share a bond. Dwarves, elves, knights and dragons inhabit this country, but their world is about to be invaded by scaly lizardmen and giant Cyclops.
Hunters of Reloria series:
- Book 1: Elven Jewel, is the formation of the quest
- Book 2: Hunters’ Quest, a search for a mage and dragons
- Book 3: Dragon’s Revenge, is the thrilling conclusion
- Prequel: Fandri’s Adventures
There are also a plethora of short stories available in multiple genres.
Kasper is currently penning her first angels and demons novel.
What Genres Do You Write In?
Why Don't You Start By Sharing A Little About Yourself
Hi, I’m Kasper, a self-declared dragon-mad fangirl. I love Space Opera, for example Star Wars and Star Trek and also enjoy reading fantasy, paranormal, adventure, sci0fi and mystery books. I’m a busy working mum and I run a Facebook group called the Fantasy SciFi Author Support Group. Keeps me busy and is a load of fun 🙂
Could you tell us a bit about your latest book?
Fandri’s Adventures is a stand alone novel about the youthful adventures of a beloved character from the Hunters of Reloria series. Halfling Fandri runs away with elves after his first kiss with a girl leads to an encounter with a picthfork wielding farmer.
He thinks running away will solve his problems, but when he finds that invaders are running loose in Reloria AND there’s a war between men and dragons, he discovers he has bitten off more than he can chew.
He befriends a human squire named Varl and together they travel Reloria on an elven quest. Pretty much everything that can go wrong, does go wrong in this epic tale. With magic spells, dragons, deadly pirates and a fierce bear, Fandri get a fast ticket into adulthood and overcoming adversity.
Who is your intended readership?
Young Adult, but this kind of fantasy adventure has a huge adult following as well. Anyone from age 12 or so up to 120.
When did you realize you wanted to be a writer?
Maybe around year 5 at primary school. Other children would ask me why I use unusual words like magenta, abominable and inconspicuous. It kinda made it hard when we swapped work and they had to read mine out to the class. Oopsy…I was always a little different, even then.
Do you have a favorite author, or writing inspiration?
David and Leigh Eddings. Their Belgariad series really piqued my interest to write fantasy.
What advice would you give beginning writers?
Write down your thoughts and come to a writing group to share. Even coming and listening the first couple of times is OK if you’re shy. You’ll learn heaps.
Do you have any amusing writing stories or anecdotes to share?
So where does a fantasy author go for her holiday? Middle Earth, of course, otherwise known as New Zealand.
Visiting the sets of the biggest fantasy series of all time was definitely on my bucket list, and I was delighted to have the chance to visit there with Hubby and our own halflings. Highlights for me were visiting Hobbiton; climbing Mount Doom and the Weta Workshop. This last was where all the swords, sets and fantasy creature costumes were made. A truly amazing holiday which I would recommend to anyone. If you want to read about it, search Hobbiton and Middle Earth on my blog.
What do you like to do when you're not writing? Any hobbies?
Travel, reading and crocheting. I have travelled a lot in my home country of Australia, New Zealand as mentioned above, and spent 9 months backpacking around Europe with friends. Travel sure is a great way to expand your mind and ignite your creativity.
What’s your next project? Any upcoming book secrets you care to reveal?
Oh ho, you’re after all my secrets are you? Well, as you are so nice, I’m happy to share a few titbits from my new project.
I have written an angels and demons novel which is currently with my editor. It’s a steamy romp set in a strip club which will be rather a change of pace for me. Going from Young Adult to New Adult paranormal romance sure is a lot of fun in the writing department.
The protagonist is Riley, a kickboxing champion who becomes a demon hunter on her 18th birthday. As luck would have it, her friends take her to a strip club where she alone can see a demon. She is in way over her head but I’m sure she will find a way to harness her skills for some demonic butt-kicking.

Running away with the elves was supposed to be fun.
After Fandri kisses sweet halfling, Emina, he’s chased off the farm by her pitch-fork wielding father and a crazy goat. Accompanied by his fairy, he runs away with knights and elves in search of adventure. He makes friends with a squire named Varl and together they travel Reloria on an elven quest. With magic spells, dragons, deadly pirates and a fierce bear, Fandri gets a whole lot more adventure than he bargained for.
Fandri’s Adventures is a prequel and great introduction to the popular Hunters of Reloria fantasy trilogy.
