#OWSCyCon2019 Author Spotlight
As part of the build-up to OWSCyCon2019, I want to introduce you to some of the amazing volunteers and authors taking part in the event. If it wasn’t for the volunteers, there could be no CyCon, and I’m grateful to every single one of them for giving up their time to make this happen. But by the same token, without the authors taking part in the event, we wouldn’t be able to bring you the amazing events that we have planned. So without further delay…

What Genres Do You Write In?
Why Don't You Start By Sharing A Little About Yourself
I was born in Ohio, and raised in LA during California’s golden years when Disneyland was first opened, you could camp on the beach, and cruise the Hollywood strip looking for movie stars. I was a dreamy-eyed youngster who lived in her dreams, and never lost touch of that celestial wandering. I wrote poetry to escape the worldliness of my environment, and painted pictures of somewhere over the rainbow.
When the age of rebellion hit the world, the Vietnam War, hippies, and John Lennon was at its prime, I found my escape in the disguise of college. From there I road the roller coaster, climbing the highest mountains and plummeting into the darkest valleys.
I survived my youth, bore seven children and finally settled down in the Pacific Northwest in one piece, still hanging onto the love of castles and dragons and dreams come true.
Could you tell us a bit about your latest book?
My latest book is a sequel to my Ian’s Realm trilogy, a series we just finished filming a concept trailer for. The book is title Layla: Born at Night. When Ian returns to the Realm in search of Abbi and Elisa he not only encounters the fiery dragon, but falls prey to a lovely temptress and a wicked queen.
Who is your intended readership?
Young adults and adventure loving adults. Harry Potter, Percy Jackson fans.
When did you realize you wanted to be a writer?
Ever since I learned the alphabet I was writing. Mostly poetry and essays because I found it easier to express what was deep down inside of me when I wrote. Not until 2013 did I begin writing novels and have since published 11 of them, working on another sequel now.
Do you have a favorite author, or writing inspiration?
C.S. Lewis, C.S. Forester, Robert Jodan. Joe Ambercrombie.
What advice would you give beginning writers?
Study. Learn the craft. Be open to learning. Don’t think you know it all. No one does. There is ALWAYS room for improvement. Read.
What do you like to do when you're not writing? Any hobbies?
I paint portraits and landscapes and plein air painting, walk in the woods and dabble in filmmaking.
What’s your next project? Any upcoming book secrets you care to reveal?
Oh yes of course, I need to write Ian’s Realm book 3.2 because of Layla’s ending I cannot keep it like it is.
