- Acolytes of Nimue -
(Ruby Morgan Book 7)
WORLDS COLLIDE, AND I’M SMACK IN THE MIDDLE
I never imagined I would meet my grandparents. But here I am in a strange town full of Magicals. It’s as if stepping through a portal to another world. What starts as a family reunion turns out to be a nightmare. Figures.
The townspeople pray to Nimue, and when they celebrate Summer Solstice, it’s not the kind of celebration I expect. The truth makes my blood boil. Lucky I brought friends, right? Problem is, humans are not welcome in this town.
In the middle of it all, my grandmother is ill, and my granddad has an insane plan to save her life. And of course, he believes I hold the key to his success. Struggling to protect my friends and find a way to help my grandmother leads me on an unexpected treasure hunt. What I find makes my choice that much harder.
I HOLD THE KEY, BUT DOES IT UNLOCK THE DOOR TO SALVATION?
"Acolytes of Nimue" Reviewed
A visit to her grandparents turns Ruby’s life upside down
Just when I thought that LJ Rivers couldn’t ramp up the stakes any further, they do. Ruby’s life was upended by the events of the last book, and things are about to get even more interesting.
After the death of her mother, Ruby reaches out to her grandparents and discovers that they live in a small town she is already familiar with. Arranging to visit them is the easy part, but when her friends opt to join her Ruby discovers that two of them are not as welcome in the town as she is. Discovering the reason they’re not welcome opens up a can of worms, stirring up the locals, and uncovering secrets that might be better left buried.
This book really pushed the boundaries of what I thought was possible from Ruby’s world and showed a side of Magical history that I hadn’t even guessed could have existed. With the way this book ends, I can’t even begin to guess at what lies ahead for Ruby, and that’s a good thing. It likely means that the authors have a lot more surprises still in store for us.
